Henna Laine Design Upcycle Skirt

Henna Laine Design is inspired by organic surfaces and shapes. The collection is bound together by a monochromatic colour scheme and cotton as the material for all products. The holes in the backs of the products are a recurring theme. The holes can be adjusted with a drawstring to suit your taste, allowing a new kind of drape to the product.

The dyed collared shirts are the main material of the collection. The products have been designed to minimise the use of new material.

Henna Laine won the Lunga Upcycle 2024 design competition with this collection. Henna describes the collection. However, the collection also has some gender-neutral elements. The clothes are youthful, but I don't want to define the target age group, because I see no reason why people of all ages can't wear the clothes. The products are loose fitting, which allows the product to
to fit a larger size range."

As a designer, Henna is interested in multi-functionality. She is driven by the idea that clothes can be adapted to different situations and styles. She wants to stretch the boundaries of casual dressing with different silhouettes, colours and combinations of contrasting styles. She wants a garment to have a little something extra, but also something that the wearer will be proud to wear for many years to come.
